Last week we had a fabulous evening at Fremont Studios for ISES - Seattle Chapter's Emerald City Applause Awards! We took home TWO new awards last night!

*Best Event Marketing Campaign for the Microsoft Visual Studio Launch
*Best Design/Decor Budget Under $25,000 for our Vagabond Swamp!

Vagabond Dreams

Vagabond Dreams is a 1930's vintage inspired destination honeymoon retreat. A mystery location our bride has been taken to, perhaps in Australia. With a bouquet of succulents still in hand, and a leaf crown on her head - she seems to have just finished with a wedding & is now awaiting her groom's arrival. The campsite is lush, and full of all the amenities you could dream of to escape the sweltering sun, trunks of linens, curiosities, and of course tea. Fine Persian rugs line the ground inside and out of the grand canvas tent. This isn't camping as most people know it, this site is all about opulence in the wilderness.

Every aspect of this shoot, decor, floral, and vintage wardrobe, came straight out of the PJ Hummel & Company warehouse. This is only a small sampling of our many collections.

Cascadia 2012 Gala

The much anticipated "Night at the Museum Gala" happened last week at Cascadia 2012, and what a magical night! You may recall this post - bonus points if you followed the Cascadia Blog & found this guest post by us as well! In planning this particular gala, PJ wanted to make it something guests had never seen or experienced before. A progressive scene-changing event was one part, entertainment was another; and when you put it all together guests will remember this night as a once in a lifetime experience!

There wasn't just one room for the gala, there were EIGHT environments guests found themselves adventuring through. Yes, it really was a museum! The fun comes from our story of why the museum was so magical:

“As the story goes, an Egyptian tomb was discovered and brought to Tacoma to showcase the curiosity of this ancient world. In doing so, the excavators and moving team have stirred up much more trouble than they had bargained for! The mummies have been disturbed, and a crate has been tipped over – unleashing a ghostly spell on the rest of the museum!”

Guests found themselves going through The Hidden Art Gallery, The Hall of Statues, The Ancient Rome Collection, The Lewis & Clark Expedition, The Wild Wild West Collection, The Hall of the Exotic Jungle, & finally ended the evening with A Naughty Night on the Nile!

Attendees came in costumes because they were part of the museum as well! Teddy Roosevelt was our official tour guide; why shouldn’t he have guided Amelia Earhart around?

To start the Gala, we produced a special program with a map and the itinerary to remind attendees to keep moving! As a progressive gala, rooms opened and closed throughout the evening.

Last night was The Emerald City Applause Awards by ISES, and what a night! We won not one but THREE awards!



•Best Event Marketing Campaign
for GOG at PAX Prime
With marketing goals such as sharing the concept of their company on a brand new platform, creating mass media attention, and cutting even with the cost of the event; GOG.com was able to exceed these goals and steal the show at the largest gaming tradeshow in the United States. This was accomplished not by the traditional gamer aesthetic of bright, large, and loud; but through two very different approaches rarely used at gamer tradeshows: scent and nostalgia. Our team played a key role in this exciting achievement.


•Best Event for a Corporation Budget $25,001-$100,000
for Night At The Museum
‘A Night at the Museum’ in the Museum of Natural Mystery was a progressive Halloween event designed for multi-age guests at the Microsoft Commons. The event started two weeks before Halloween, gradually morphing The Commons into a haunted Museum of Natural Mystery. The climax occurred on Halloween day with ‘A Night at the Museum’ inspired Haunted House built inside a four room meeting space. As attendees wandered through thematic galleries, displays came to life (with actors from Clowns Unlimited)while sensory accents created an ambience of suspense. Our goal was to create & deliver an exciting and unexpected experience following a believable yet enchanted storyline to an anticipated 15,000 guests.

for Wizard of Oz
A combination of Hollywood Lighting, Blue Danube Productions, & PJ Hummel & Company transformed St. Joesph School's auditorium intro a magical Wizard of Oz Fantasy world for their annual fundraiser!

2012 Cascadia in Tacoma!

Big news for Tacoma, the 2012 MPI Cascadia Educational Conference is coming! March 4th - 6th "The HeART Of Your Meeting" themed event will offer: 60 hours of quality education, hands-on experience with cutting edge technology, a tradeshow that combines new technology tools, a Hosted Buyer program, & the best networking of the year with over 250 meeting professionals in the Northwest area at one meeting!

Of course PJ Hummel & Company is getting in on the action by designing a one-of-a-kind spectacle ~ the "Night at the Museum Progressive Gala!" We expect attendees of the Cascadia Conference to have never attended an event this wild and intriguing as the gala develops around them from gallery to gallery ending with "A Naughty Night on the Nile!"

A magical exhibit from the “Museum of Natural Mystery” has just arrived! Installation of the exhibits has begun and will culminate on the night of March 5th with a special costume gala called, “A Night at the Museum.”

As the story goes, an Egyptian tomb was discovered and brought to Tacoma to showcase the curiosity of this ancient world. In doing so, the excavators and moving team have stirred up much more trouble than they had bargained for! The mummies have been disturbed, and a crate has been tipped over – unleashing a ghostly spell on the rest of the museum!

Hello Décor!

We have been working hard this past month to write and create our new Décor section for our website. The time has come & it’s now officially launched! We want this to be a tool for our future and current clients to get a better feel for what PJ Hummel & Company is capable of providing. We broke the new Décor section into 9 categories that elaborate further on our décor services and added over 50 new pictures! You will now find in the Décor section – pages for: Furniture & Accessories, Pipe & Drape, Linens & Chair-covers, Thematic Props, Ceiling Treatments, Centerpieces & Floral, Floor Treatments, Lighting & Special Effects, and an Overview page so you don’t get lost!
