Fun Event Idea Featuring New Hot Air Balloon Props!

Gentlemen start your engines, Ladies kindly remove your hats! This last weekend, PJ Hummel & Co. had the opportunity to partner with Tacoma’s Rotary 8 for The Great Race: an evening filled with delicious dining and racy auction action, all the while supporting a great cause! It was held in the Bicentennial Pavilion at the Hotel Murano. Highlights included a favorite new prop: a ten foot round hot air balloon! We have five of these now – this is a versatile prop that would also work well for a Wizard of Oz theme. Other highlights were our Lady Liberty statue, representing New York, and our fifteen foot high Eifel Tower on the Paris stage. The event also included a vintage race car from the LeMay Museum Collection

A ten foot hot air balloon fills the skyline of the cavernous hall.

And they’re off! Lady Liberty guides the racers on their way.
The stage was embellished with a fifteen foot high steel Eifel Tower replica.

Great Race starting line, featuring a vintage race car, antique luggage, light posts, and decorative banners.

How to turn a concert venue into a Speakeasy!

Here is an opulent art-deco speakeasy theme at Showbox Sodo here in Seattle. Guests entered through a traditional “backdoor-hidden” archway with authentic old whiskey bottles and barrels.

Once inside, the main stage was decked out in Egyptian flair with teal and metallic gold drapery against a vintage backdrop. Large cream columns were set to each side, each topped with teal & gold bands and large gilded palm leaves bursting from the tops!

The intimate Deco Dance Lounge was raised on a platform and detailed in hues of copper and tiffany blue with iridescent sheep drapery, vintage Persian rugs, decorative throw pillows, decadent wainscoting, and touches of orchids.

Enveloped in velvet, VIP guests enjoyed lounging on vintage furniture under a canopy of striped sheer burgundy and black satin drapery. Underfoot, a vintage Persian carpet added elegance along with live palm trees, antique steamer trunks as cocktail tables, and a mahogany sofa table for old world charm.

To complete the speakeasy theme, a jail photo-op was on display to rile-up guests!

Every piece of decor for this event came strait from our warehouse and was expertly assembled by our creative production team.

How-To: Matching Your Event To Your Branding

These days, graphic design and event design have a marriage with each-other that is stronger than ever. When a group sends out invites or launches a website for their event, it only adds to the experience when the actual event matches seamlessly to established materials. It makes the presenting group look composed and consistent.

Here is an example of a diamond themed New Year’s affair that launched their website early for ticket-buyers. Their branding was modern and glamorous in dark purples and blues. When designing the event, dramatic lighting was a must, and choosing décor that shinned in the lighting was essential. We designed with silver glitter trees (that shine beautifully in event lighting) and diamond beaded drapery accent walls.
